THE FUN STARTS WITH YELLOW

 

On average, EURO 2020 saw three yellow cards per game, with 148 given out in 51 matches. That’s a lot of interruptions.

So for EURO 2024, Snapchat wanted to turn these breaks in play into opportunities for fun, encouraging viewers to reach for their phones and share their reactions via in-app lenses every time a yellow card is shown.

To promote the campaign, we worked with Director Claire Norowzian and HunkyDory to shoot four films that take place during an office watch-party at the moment a yellow card has just been held aloft by the referee. Set within the fun and fantastical world of Snapchat, we see a range of different reactions to the decision – from happy to sad, from ecstatic to shocked – each one exaggerated by overlays of expressive lenses found in-app.

The campaign ran across social media in the UK & Germany for the duration of Euro 2024.
