Season 9 marks a new beginning for the Nissan Formula E Team. Total ownership, new drivers and a brand new car. Given the theme of ‘new’, this brief was to buck the trend of traditional motorsport car unveils. Instead of your classic collection of close ups, we wanted to tell a story. A story that reflects Nissan’s DNA and leans into what sets them apart on the grid.

We did this by celebrating Nissan’s roots with a livery design that’s inspired by sakura (cherry blossom), the national flower of Japan. The symbolic meaning behind sakura is ‘a new beginning’, which was the perfect metaphor for the team’s next chapter. To bring this to life, we created a film that is set within a cherry blossom storm to truly capture the dynamic and exciting nature of electric racing.
